Code of Conduct

At Primavera Collection, we are committed to ethical practices that honor the artisans in Mexico who craft our handmade embroidered Panama-style hats. This Code of Conduct outlines our standards for fair and respectful collaboration, ensuring transparency, dignity, and sustainability in every partnership. All artisans and suppliers must adhere to these principles.

Fair Compensation and Wages

  • Artisans receive fair wages that meet or exceed local minimum wage standards in Mexico, calculated based on the complexity and time required for each piece.

  • Payments are made promptly upon completion and delivery, with transparent pricing shared in advance.

  • All artisans must receive a verified living wage—defined as enough to cover basic needs, plus discretionary income—which is reviewed and adjusted annually based on inflation and cost-of-living indices.

Hours of Work

  • Standard work hours are limited to 8 hours per day and 48 hours per week to promote work-life balance.

  • Flexible scheduling is encouraged to accommodate personal needs, such as family obligations or cultural events.

  • Rest periods of at least one day per week are mandatory.

Overtime

  • Overtime is voluntary and compensated at a premium rate of at least 1.5 times the regular wage.

  • Overtime is limited to no more than 3 hours per day or 12 hours total per day, and not exceeding 3 hours per week on average.

  • Artisans may decline overtime without penalty.

Child Labor

  • No one under 18 years of age is employed in production activities.

  • We prohibit any form of child labor that interferes with education or well-being.

  • In cases of family-based workshops, children may assist only in non-hazardous, light tasks outside school hours, with no impact on their schooling.

Forced Labor

  • All work is voluntary; no artisan is required to work against their will or under threat of penalty.

  • We ban debt bondage, human trafficking, or any form of coercion.

  • Employment contracts are clear, with freedom to terminate at any time without retaliation.

Nondiscrimination

  • We foster an inclusive environment free from discrimination based on gender, age, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.

  • Hiring, assignments, and promotions are based solely on skill and merit.

  • Harassment or bullying in any form is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of partnerships.

  • A confidential and accessible grievance mechanism must be available to all artisans for reporting violations without fear of retaliation. All complaints will be thoroughly investigated, documented, and addressed promptly.

Women's Rights

  • We ensure equal opportunities, pay, and treatment for women artisans, recognizing their vital role in embroidery traditions.

  • Accommodations for maternity, reproductive health, and family care are provided without penalty.

  • We support women's leadership and skill-building initiatives to empower female artisans.

Health and Safety

  • Workspaces are safe, well-ventilated, and equipped with necessary tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). All artisans and suppliers must ensure proper storage and handling of all chemicals, including dyes, with readily accessible Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

  • Access to clean water, sanitation, and first-aid kits is required at all sites.

  • Regular training on safe practices is provided, and we encourage reporting of hazards without fear of reprisal.
